TELLS AND TAILS: Reading and Responding to Giraffe Behavior [46:45 min.]

Our successes with our animals depends on what we select for with our reinforcers. This presentation will cover how we use positive reinforcement to select for the behavior we are looking for (usually still behavior) and we remove ourselves at the very first sign of escape or discomfort behavior (twitching, ear flapping, tail swishing). This has allowed us to develop a communication system based off assent, and no behavior. The giraffe tells US when we can proceed, as well as tells us when to change something to set them up for better success.
