Giraffe Care, Behavior & Training Workshops |
GIRAFFE CARE WORKSHOP Creating a strong community of giraffe professionals, this week-long workshop empowers attendees to continually improve giraffe welfare, in situ and ex situ. Lecture material is balanced with roundtable discussions and hands-on activities with CMZoo's herd, like practicing training techniques, watching demonstrations and creating enrichment. Attendees work through various giraffe-specific modules with CMZoo staff, and gain knowledge and experience in the following topics: training, browse programs, hoof care, conservation, teamwork, roadblocks, enrichment and guest/giraffe interactions. GIRAFFE BEHAVIOR & TRAINING WORKSHOP Participants must have attended the Giraffe Care Workshop to join this workshop. This 4-day workshop focuses specifically on the science of behavior change, and how trainers can harness the environment to increase desired behaviors. In-depth training concepts learned in this workshop can be applied to improve the lives of giraffe in human care. Community Working Groups |
BARN DESIGN WORKING GROUP Present or Join in community discussion. These Zoom sessions are FREE and open to anyone in the giraffe care community. During meetings, facilities will have an opportunity to present unique features of their barns; highlighting pros and cons, and sharing their insights. NEXT BARN DESIGN WORKING GROUP: Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10 a.m. MST • This virtual ZOOM event will focus on designing barns for easier loading/offloading access for giraffe. • All are welcome to attend, and we would also love for people to present! If you have set-ups that work, or DON'T work, we'd love to hear from you. We allocate about 5-10 minutes per speaker. Would you like to share about your your facility? Please join us as a presenter! Private Owner & Custom Workshops |
GIRAFFE PRIVATE OWNER WORKSHOP Join our annual Giraffe Workshop for Private Owners. This 2½-day workshop kicks off with a welcome icebreaker/dinner and continues the following days with in-depth sessions focusing on training, enrichment, veterinary, and hoof health for giraffe in private care. Facilitated by a collaborative group of giraffe professionals and leading experts in the field, this workshop creates a space for private giraffe owners to connect, share experiences, and strengthen animal welfare practices.
